Crypt Baldi represents one of the four locations of the National Roman Museum. The other three are: Diocleziano Baths, Massimo alle Terme’s Palace, Altemps Palace.The Crypta dates back to the Augustan days, by the end of the first century b.C. and was originally composed of a court with porch, linked to the theater erected by Lucio Cornelio Balbo. In its two sections, on three bases, the Crypt shows the transformation of the urban scenery and city culture from the first settlements till modern times, especially the changes happened during the centuries from Roman Age and the Middle Age.The Museum is housed in the complex situated among the Medieval buildings between Via Caetani and Via delle Botteghe Oscure. The ticket of the museum comprises a visit to the near ancient buildings. The Museum displays archaeological finds from the Crypt: among them are vascular art pieces, tools, architectural fragments, items coming from historical collections of the Roman National Museum.
